Recommendations Based Upon Survey Results

  1. Lack of an Adequate Road System

    Send survey results through a letter to the state-level through Richard Browning (Coalfields Expressway Authority), and inform other local and state officials of how new road systems are desired by and can help existing businesses.

  2. Inadequate Housing

    Work with housing organizations and developers to bring better housing stock to Wyoming County. Identify all relevant housing resources. Bring all stakeholders together for meeting on how to improve housing stock. Identify relevant organizations to head up housing effort. Support housing effort within the scope of the BRE&D program.

  3. Lack of Workforce and Business Education Programs and Capital Access

    These resources exist, but the problem is awareness. Create and implement a promotional program for workforce and financial resources available to Wyoming County businesses.

  4. Cellular Phone Service is Poor and Spotty

    Talk to phone companies and research grant funding opportunities to expand existing service. Although this program may not be able to fully resolve this issue, it will explore possibilities and learn how to make improvements.

  5. Encourage More Citizens to Buy Locally

    Many people are shopping in Beckley/Raleigh County area, taking many potential dollars away from Wyoming County businesses. Need to research existing 'buy locally' programs. Implement “Shop Wyoming County” program based upon previously successful models.
